How did you get your start in financial services?

I’ve been involved with building software products for the past decade, but I was a financial industry outsider until joining Wealthbox.

What’s something that you know now that you wish you’d known when you started your career?

A genuine interest in other people and a desire to help them be successful is a superpower. I think a lot of us focus on improving our technical skills early in our careers, but we really start to see the benefits once they’re applied to helping others achieve their goals.

What excites you most about the financial advice profession right now?

As a recipient of advice, I really love that there’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. There’s something for everyone at all levels of their financial journey. I think the technology available really helps advisors make connections with their clients and serve them well.

Is there something your company does that you don’t think advisors know about that they should be aware of?

Wealthbox has “consumerized” CRM and made it so easy to use that there’s no training required. It’s literally sign up and go. The product design takes its cues from social networking software and allows advisors to collaborate like never before. We offer a Free 30-day trial, free data migration, and many other resources if you need them.

Any words of advice for advisors looking to update their tech stack?

Watch for natural adoption of users - without management mandates of “you must use this” bloated product. Technology that’s easy to use ensures your teammates use it too. To that end, don’t rely on feature checklists as they’re often apples and oranges comparisons. Try out new products with other members of your firm.

What are you looking forward to the most about attending AdviceTech.LIVE?

The team at Wealthbox is looking forward to hearing from others across the sessions, as well as meeting new folks at the exhibitor booth.
